Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to determine the information needs of foreigners who settle in our country as retired immigrants and to present the role of public libraries, accepted as socio-cultural communication hubs, in providing for these needs. In the first section a survey has been implemented on the subject of retired immigrants in the province and districts of Antalya, where foreigners have purchased the most property in our country and the most retired immigrants live. Information they need during adaptation to their region where they live has been asked based on level of significance and meeting needs revealed by this survey. In the second section, the public libraries in Antalya were evaluated in terms of staff, collections and services. Suggestions were submitted for fulfilling the needs that retired immigrants have for information result of the study.
