Kentleri birbirinden ayıran, onu eşsiz yapan doğal güzellikleri, tarihi mirası ve sosya-kültürel yaşamıdır. Bu özellikler kentlere zengin bir kimlik ve güçlü bir kentsel imaj kazandırır. Ancak dünyamız geçmişten günümüze çeşitli nedenlere bağlı olarak ( teknolojik gelişmeler, hızlı nüfus artışı vb.) değişim göstermektedir. Bu da kentleri birbirinden farklı yapan bu özelliklerin kaybolmasına ve birbirine benzer kentlerin doğmasına sebep olmaktadır. Bu olumsuzluklar, kentlerin, insanların zihninde bıraktığı imajın, kent kimliğinin giderek kaybolmasına ve insanların çevrelerine, mahallelerine, kentlerine yabancılaşmasına neden olur. Kentsel kimliği olumsuz yönde değişen (görünümdeki değişimler, yapılan etkinliklerdeki değişimler) şehirlerde, insanların çevreyle ilişkisi zayıflar bu da insanların kentlerine olan sahiplenme ve bağlılık duygusunu azaltır.
It is its natural beauty, historical heritage and social-cultural life that separates the cities, which makes it unique. These features give cities a rich identity and a strong urban image. But our world depends on a variety of reasons from the past to the present (technological developments, rapid population growth, etc.) It shows change. This also leads to the disappearance of these characteristics that make the cities different and the birth of similar cities. These negatives cause the image that the cities, the people leave in their minds, the city identity to disappear and the people to be alienated to their surroundings, neighborhoods, cities. In cities that change the urban identity negatively (changes in appearance, changes in the events) the relationship of people with the environment is weak, which reduces the sense of ownership and commitment to the cities.

Urban identity is changing in the negative (changes in appearance, changes in activities) in cities, people are weak in relation to the environment, which reduces the sense of ownership and loyalty of people's cities.
