Abstract:

Marriage ıs one of the most ımportant steps ın establıshıng famıly bounds. At these marriage ceremonies; the position of the living area, geographical conditions, economic situations have an important effect on the clothes, customs, and traditions. one of our cultural values bride`s clothing evolves into more modern clothing because of the fast development of the sıciety and the new technological developments. the study is important in the way that it helps to keep alıve the lost values. clothıngs that ınclude traditional elements give a bunch of ınformatıon related to the society it belongs. the subject of the study s Söğüt Village marriage traditions and bride`s clothıng are important elements that are still going on. the aim of the study is to document them and transfer them to the next generations. the traditions of the village are recorded by the researcher by making ınterviews with the people living and having the knowledge of this tradition. among the traditional clothes; 2 items of dresses, 1 item of shalwar, 1 item of loincloth, 1 item of sash (belt) and 1 item of coif (head decoration) have been examined. at the end of the examınatıon photos of the clothing are taken; fabrıc, sewing, decoration and lining specialities are recorded at observatıon form. Coif (head decoration) is done in the same way it is done at weedings by the local people. at the end of the study,ıt is seen that wedding traditions are still applied at the söğüt village; the head decoration (coif) is volunterily applied by the brides themselves at the weedings.
