Abstract:

Fear is a phenomenon that exists with humanity. So there will be fear as well as humanity. However, fear changes shapes according to time and day. Political, cultural, and economic variables are creating new fears when many things that people have been afraid of are becoming fearless nowadays. Today, fear of foreigners is one of them. The mass immigration of people fleeing from the ongoing war in many parts of the world has become a fear for other countries. Because these people become a crowded mass and influence on the existing social, economic and cultural structure. Hence fear originating from "Foreign" and "Other" affects the attitudes and behaviors of established people. This study aims to investigate whether immigrants and refugees who have smuggled into Turkey or used Turkey as a transit point have been treated as 'Syrians' and whether the refugees and immigrants in the news bulletins have been affected by the discomfort and fear of the presentation of refugees and migrants.
