Turizm olgusunun karmaşık yapısı turizm eğitimine olan ihtiyacı doğururken, olumsuz etkilerinin minimize edilmesi ise sürdürülebilirliği gerekli kılmaktadır. Sürdürülebilir turizm konusuna turizm eğitiminde yer verilmesi yönündeki düşünce bu gereklilikler nedeniyle önemlidir. Sürdürülebilir turizmin bütüncül bir yaklaşım neticesinde başarıyla uygulanabilmesi dikkate alındığında, kavramın turizm eğitiminin ilk aşamasından itibaren işlenmesi ihtiyacı belirginleşmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, turizm eğitimi veren Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi öğrencilerinin sürdürülebilir turizm uygulamalarına yönelik farkındalıklarının tespit edilmesi ve görüşlerinin değerlendirilmesidir. Bu kapsamda araştırmanın çalışma evrenini Yüksekkum Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi'nde öğrenim gören birinci, ikinci, üçüncü ve dördüncü sınıf örencileri oluşturmaktadır. Birincil veriler anket tekniği uygulanarak katılımcı öğrencilerden elde edilmiştir. SPSS 20 paket programı kullanılarak frekans dağılımları hesaplanmış ve faktör analizi yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın bulguları, katılımcı öğrencilere sistematik olarak sürdürülebilir turizme yönelik bir eğitim verilmediği için farkındalıklarının sınırlı kaldığını ve genelden detaya doğru inildiğinde ortalama düzeyinin düştüğünü göstermektedir.
The complex structure of the tourism phenomenon generates the need for tourism education, while minimizing its negative effects makes sustainability necessary. The idea of the sustainable tourism subject to the place in tourism education is important because of these requirements. Considering that sustainable tourism can be successfully implemented as a result of a comprehensive approach, the need to process the concept from the first stage of tourism education becomes clear. The aim of this study is to identify and evaluate the awareness of the students of the Professional and Technical Anatolian High School who provide tourism education and their views on sustainable tourism practices. In this context, the study universe of research is formed by the first, second, third and fourth class examples studying at the Higher Professional and Technical Anadolu High School. The primary data is obtained from the participating students by applying the survey technique. The SPSS 20 package program has calculated frequency distribution and factor analysis. The findings of the study show that their awareness remains limited because the participating students do not have a systematic training on sustainable tourism and that their average level is down when they go from the general to the detail.
As the complicated structure of tourism creates the need of tourism education, sustainability is required in order to minimize negative effects. Because of this requirements, the idea that tourism education should be included in the subject of sustainable tourism is important. Considering the fact that sustainable tourism can be successfully applied as a result of a holistic approach, the need for the concept to be processed from the first stage of tourism education becomes clear. The main objective of the research is to find out awareness towards sustainable tourism implementations and to evaluate students' opinions taking education in Yüksekkum Vocational and Technical High School which gives education in the field of tourism. In this context, target population of the research consist of first, second, third and fourth grade students receiving education in Yüksekkum Vocational and Technical High School. The data was obtained by using questionnaire technique and SPSS 20 Package Programme was used to analyze the obtained data.
