Türkiye, hızlı ve dinamik bir değişim sürecinden geçmekte ve hızlı kalkınma ile çevrenin korunması arasında dengeyi sağlamakta güçlük çekmektedir. Hızlı ekonomik büyüme sonucunda, sosyal ve kültürel olarak gelişme seyri içinde olan Türkiye’de arazi kullanım şekilleri de hızlı bir değişim göstermektedir. Belli bir alanda bu değişimlerin izlenmesi ve boyutunun kısa sürede belirlenmesi, ileride olabilecek sorunların önceden tespiti ve önlem alınması açısından önemlidir. Bu konuda, uzaktan algılama teknolojisi önemli kolaylıklar sağlamakta ve sıklıkla kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Kilis’in alansal gelişimi ve gelişiminin yönünü belirlemek amacıyla 1985-2015 yıllarına ait Landsat uydu görüntüleri kullanılmıştır. Böylece şehrin alansal gelişimi ile yakın çevresinin arazi kullanımında meydana gelen değişimler ve gelişim yönü tespit edilerek, Kilis’te şehirleşme ile doğal ortam unsurları ve tarım arazileri arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar, Kilis şehrinin alansal gelişiminin ekolojik açıdan zengin canlı yaşamını barındıran orman alanlarına veya ekonomik açıdan önem arz eden verimli tarım sahalarına doğru gerçekleşmediğini göstermektedir. Bu bağlamda Kilis şehri hem ekonomik hem de ekolojik açılardan olumlu bir kentsel büyüme örneği göstermektedir.
Turkey is undergoing a rapid and dynamic process of change, and it is difficult to balance between rapid development and the conservation of the environment. As a result of rapid economic growth, the way of land use in Turkey, which is in the path of social and cultural development, also shows a rapid change. The monitoring and short-term determination of these changes in a particular area is important for the pre-identification and measurement of future problems. In this regard, remote detection technology provides significant facilities and is frequently used. In this study, Landsat satellite images from 1985-2015 were used to determine the direction of Kilis' alansal development and development. Thus, by identifying the changes and the direction of development occurring in the land use of the city's alansal development and the nearby surroundings, the relationship between urbanization and natural environmental elements and agricultural lands in Kilis has been studied. The findings show that the alansal development of the city of Kilis did not take place in the forest areas that accommodate ecologically rich living lives or in the productive agricultural areas that are economically important. In this context, the city of Kilis is a positive example of urban growth both economically and ecologically.
Turkey has been going through a rapid and dynamic process of change and having difficulties regarding maintaining the balance between rapid development and protection of environment. In connection with the rapid economic growth, the land use shows rapid changes in Turkey, which is in a process of social and cultural development. Monitoring these changes in land use in a specific area and determining the size of change in a short span of time are important for early detection and prevention of possible problems. The remote-sensing technology provides significant conveniences and is frequently used for this purpose. In this study, Landsat satellite images of Kilis between 1985-2015 were used to identify areal growth and its direction in Kilis. Thus, the relationship between urbanization and natural environment factors and agricultural areas in Kilis was investigated by detecting changes in areal growth in the city, land use in its immediate vicinity and growth direction. Results show that areal growth in Kilis does not occur toward ecologically rich forest areas inhabited by many species or fertile agricultural lands which have great economic importance. In this context, Kilis stands as a positive example of urban growth both economically and ecologically.
