Macar ve Türk uluslarının kökleri tarihin derinliklerine uzanmakta ve iki ulus arasındaki ilişki ve bağlar da kökler kadar derinlere uzanmaktadır. Tarihin en eski dönemlerinden itibaren devam eden bu yakın ilişki, Osmanlıların, Macaristan topraklarındaki hâkimiyeti boyunca perçinlenerek devam etmiştir. Osmanlıların, Macar topraklarından geri çekilmeye başlamasıyla birlikte ilişkilerde yeni bir dönem açılmıştır. Uzun on dokuzuncu yüzyıl Türk-Macar dostluk bağlarının en sıkı biçimde örülmesine sahne olmuştur. Osmanlıların bölgeden çekilmesinden sonra Habsburg idaresi altına giren Macaristan’da, bu yönetimin getirdiği baskılara karşı ayaklanmalar olmuş, ancak başarısızlığa uğrayan ve yalnız bırakılan Macar önderleri Osmanlı Devleti nezdinde destek ve himaye görmeleri Macar halkının kalbinde silinmez derin izler bırakmıştır. Ardından iki imparatorluk Birinci Dünya Savaşı’nda aynı blokta yer almış, Türk birlikleri Galiçya’da, Avusturya-Macaristan topçu bataryaları ise Çanakkale ve Sina-Filistin cephelerinde Türklerle birlikte savaşmışlardır. Savaş sonrası diplomatik ilişkiler kısa süreli kesintiye uğrasa da, Yeni kurulan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’ni ilk tanıyan devletlerden olan Macaristan’la, ilk dostluk antlaşmasını da imza edilmiştir. Atatürk dönemi Türk-Macar ilişkileri ilgi çekici ve renklidir. İki ülkenin ilişkilerinin en parlak seviyede olduğu bu yılları 1928–39 yılları arasında Peşte Elçisi olarak görev yapan Behiç Erkin’in 2010 senesinde yayımlanan anılarında bu görevine ilişkin kapsamlı bilgiye ve edindiği intibalara, gönderdiği elçilik raporlara ve TİTE’de bulunan raporları, anıları ve kişisel eşyaları ile inceleyeceğiz.

The roots of Hungarian and Turkish nations extend to the depths of history and relations between two nations extend as deep as the roots. The period of Atatürk, Turkish- Hungarian friendships were very interesting and colourful. When the relations of two countries are at their brightest level between 1928-39 Behiç Erkin was working as Budapest’s ambassador. His memories published in 2010. It included his duties, extensive information, impression during his work life, reports which he send and TITE’s reports, his memories and his personal goods. We are going to look into them.
