Şehir, toplumsal hayat ile insanlar arasındaki ilişkileri oluşturan en önemli fiziksel yapıdır. Bu nedenle geçmişten günümüze değin kent ve toplumsal dinamikler iç içe olmuştur. Çalışmanın amacı Ortaçağ’da şehir ve felsefe ilişkisini açıklamak ve günümüzde bu ilişkinin nasıl değerlendirilebileceğini ortaya koymaktır. Ayrıca çalışma şehrin birey ve toplum ile kurduğu ilişkileri incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu nedenle öncelikle Ortaçağ’da sosyal yaşamı belirleyen bir unsur olarak dönemin başlıca felsefi yaklaşımları ele alınmıştır. Daha sonra Ortaçağ’da şehir ve mimarinin bu felsefi yaklaşımlar ekseninde nasıl şekillendirildiği ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışma nitel bir çalışmadır. Bilgiler literatür taraması yöntemiyle toplanmış ve yorumlanmıştır. Sonuç olarak Ortaçağ örneği üzerinden günümüz felsefe, sosyal yaşam, şehir ve mimari yapıları üzerine eleştirel bir yaklaşım getirilmiştir.

The city is the most important physical structure that makes connections between people and society. Thus, the city and social dynamics are intrinsic to the present from day to day. The purpose of the study is to explain the relationship between city and philosophy in the Middle Ages and to show how today's relationship can be evaluated. It also aims to examine the study area. This proposal deals with philosophical approaches to begin social life in the Middle Ages. Later in the Middle Ages, it was tried to find out how the cities and architects shaped these philosophical approaches. The study is a qualitative study. Collected and interpreted by literature survey method. As a result, a critical approach to modern philosophy, social life, city and architectural structures has been introduced through the medieval example.
