Abstract:

Folklore is not a written document; under the influence of traditions from the ancestors are believed and studied science. People are interested in myths, traditions and beliefs. In sum, folklore examines everything that constitutes the intellectual structure of the people. As we have come across in every discipline, we have come across some theories and methods in folklore. There are scientists who advances, develops and uses these theories and methods. Ruth Benedict is also the founder of the Anthropological Folklore Theory. In our study, we will examine the evaluation of Benedict's work, Chrysanthemum and Sword, which analyzes the character and style of behavior of Japanese society reflected in daily life, customs and traditions in terms of theories of popular science.
