Düşünme insana özgü ve onu hayvanlardan ayıran bir özelliktir. Bu özelliğe sahip olmak beraberinde sorumlulukları da getirir. Çünkü düşünme, herkeste aynı şekilde gerçekleşmediği için onun nasıl kullanıldığı önemlidir. Düşünme, doğru ve yanlış şekilde gerçekleşir. Durum böyle olunca da doğru ve yanlış düşünmenin birbirinden ayrılması gerekir. Nedeni ise, her zaman daha iyiye ve daha olur olana ulaşmaktır. Doğru düşünmeden bahsedildiğinde kaçınılmaz olarak mantık işin içine girecektir. Çünkü mantık, doğru düşünme aracıdır ve kişileri mantıklı düşünmeye yönlendiren bir alandır. Mantıksal olarak düşünmek, doğru sonuçlara ulaşmak, daha net ve kesin bilgiler elde etmek bakımından önemlidir. Bu nedenle de mantıksal düşünme denilen bir düşünme türü kendini ortaya koymaktadır. Peki bu mantıksal olarak adlandırılan düşünme türü nedir? Bu soru çalışmanın temelini ve problemini oluşturmaktadır. Çünkü mantıksal düşünmenin ne olduğunu bilmek onun nasıl kullanılacağı hakkında bilgi verecektir. Bu ne nedenle de çalışmanın amacı olan mantıksal düşünmenin bir düşünme türü olarak ele alınmasının önemi ortaya çıkacaktır.
