Turizm Sektörü, dünya ve Türkiye ekonomisinde gün geçtikçe önem kazanan ve zamanla önemini kaybetmeyen sektörlerdendir. Türkiye’nin turizm gelirleri 2018 yılında 25,2 milyar dolar olarak gerçekleşmiştir. Sektörün ülkemiz için önemi, bilhassa ekonomik kalkınmada gereksinim duyulan sermayenin sağlanması, istihdam imkanlarının artırılması ve dış ticaret açıklarının giderilmesine yardımcı olması gibi yararlarından kaynaklanmaktadır. Bu bağlamda turizm gelirleri döviz kurlarından etkilenmektedir. Döviz kurları yükseldiğinde turistik mal ve hizmetler ucuzlayacağından, talep artışının sonrasında ülkenin turizm gelirlerine olumlu etkiler sağlaması beklenir. Döviz kurları düştüğündeyse ülkenin turizm gelirleri düşme eğilimine girer. Bu nedenle turizm gelirlerinin döviz kuruyla ilişkisi araştırmacıların ve politika yapıcıların ilgisini çekmektedir. Bu çalışmada döviz kuru yüksekliğinin turizm sektörüne etkisi 2010-2018 yılları arasında Türkiye örneği üzerinden incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırma-da turizm gelirlerine ve döviz kuruna ilişkin istatistikler kullanılarak yapılan hesaplamalarla bir sonuca varılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda döviz kuru yüksekliğinin ülkeye gelen turist sayısını artırdığı, gelen döviz miktarının artmadığı, gelen turistlerin daha az dövizle daha çok hizmet aldıkları sonucuna varılmıştır.
The tourism sector is one of the sectors that is increasingly important in the world and the economy of Turkey and that does not lose its importance over time. Turkey’s tourism revenue in 2018 was $25.2 billion. The importance of the sector for our country is derived from its benefits, such as providing the capital needed in economic development, increasing employment opportunities and helping to eliminate foreign trade gap. In this context, tourism income is influenced by exchange rates. As exchange rates rise, tourism goods and services will be cheaper, after demand increases, the country is expected to have a positive impact on tourism revenues. If the currency rates fall, the country’s tourism income tends to fall. Therefore, the relationship of tourism income with exchange rate attracts the interest of researchers and policy makers. In this study, the impact of the exchange rate height on the tourism sector was tried to be studied through the example of Turkey between the years 2010-2018. The research has come to a conclusion using statistics on tourism revenues and exchange rates. The study found that the exchange rate high increased the number of tourists arriving in the country, the amount of foreign currency arriving did not increase, the tourists arriving received more services with less currency.
The Tourism sector, in the World and the Turkey's economy gaining impor-tance day by day and is one sector that does not lose its importance over time. Turkey's tourism revenues in 2018 were realized as 25,2 billion dollars. The importance of the sector for our country stems from the benefits such as pro-viding capital needed in economic development, increasing employment op-portunities and helping to eliminate foreign trade deficits. In this context, tou-rism revenues are affected by exchange rates. It is expected that after the inc-rease in demand, it will have positive effects on the tourism revenues of the country, since the exchange rates increase, because the touristic goods and services are cheap. When the exchange rates fall, tourism revenues of the co-untry tend to decrease. For this reason, the relationship between tourism reve-nues and the exchange rate attracts researchers and policy makers. This study attempted to examine the case of Turkey between the years of 2010-2018 the height of the exchange rate in effect on the tourism sector. In the research, a result has been reached with the calculations made by using statistics on tou-rism revenues and exchange rates. As a result of the research, it was conclu-ded that the height of the exchange rate increased the number of tourists co-ming to the country, but the amount of foreign currency did not increase, and that the incoming tourists received more services with less foreign currency.
