Miskinkılıç, İran Etrek-Gürgen Edebî Mektebi’ne mensup, 19. asır Türkmen edebiyatının önemli temsilcilerinden biri, 19. asrın ikinci yarısında Türkmenler arasında başlayan kültürel uyanış hareketinin öncülerindendir. Göktepe’deki Rus katliamını şiirleriyle dile getiren Gayip Verdi Miskin Kılıç (Molla Kılıç) bütün baskılara rağmen vatanın istiklâli ve milletin hürriyeti için mücadele etmiştir. Miskinkılıç kendini şiirlerinde Kureyş kavminden, peygamber evladı, soylu biri olarak tanımlar. Miskinkılıç kimi şiirlerinde memleketini veya dünya hâllerini, kimi şiirlerinde ise sevgiliyi veya Medet, Nepes, Gurban, Berdi gibi halk kahramanlarını betimlerken benzetme amacıyla hayvan ve bitki adlarını sıklıkla kullanmıştır. Bazı şiirlerini ise, doğrudan hayvanları övmek amacıyla yazmıştır (Arap at yagşı şiiri gibi). Miskinkılıç Divanı’nda garga, zag, käkilik, bilbil, turaç, şunkar, laçın, ördek, sona, gaz, goç, guzı, goyn, maya, gulan, eşek, at, it, keyik, meral, ceren, gurt, peleŋ, gaplan, arslan, şir, şahmar, acdar, pil, kergedan, tilki, şagal, gunduz, semender, balık, mar, ner, pervana, arı gibi birçok hayvan adı ve gül, elma, enar, çınar, sünbül gibi bitki adları yer almaktadır. Miskinkılıç Divanı’nda genellikle benzetme maksadıyla kullanılan bu hayvan ve bitki adlarının Türk dilinin farklı saha ve dönemlerine ait başka metinlerde de benzer anlam ve işlevle kullanıldığı dikkati çekmektedir.
Miskinkılıç, a member of the Iranian Etrek-Gürgen Literary Mektebi, is one of the important representatives of 19th-century Turkmen literature, one of the pioneers of the cultural awakening movement begun among Turkmen in the second half of the 19th-century. Gayip Verdi Miskin Kılıç (Molla Kılıç) who spoke the Russian massacre in Göktepe with his poems, despite all the pressures, fought for the homeland's ownership and the freedom of the nation. Misgingılıç is a member of Iran Etrek-Gürgen Literary School, a serious agency of Turkmen literature in 19th century, one of innovators of cultural revival transaction that started to spread among Turkmens.
