Son yıllarda yabancı dil öğretiminde filmlerin ve videonun kullanımı oldukça yaygındır. Yabancı dil öğretimi, sadece ana dildeki kavramların karşılığını hedef dilde bulup ifade etmek değil, o sözcüklerin hangi ortamlarda, ne zaman kullanılacağını da bilmektir. Bu da ancak filmler sayesinde mümkün olur. Filmler hem temel dil becerilerinin kazandırılmasında hem de gerçek hayatta kullanılan dil ve kültürü yansıtmasıyla en etkili görsel-işitsel materyallerdir. Filmler, çok yaygın öğretilen yabancı dillerin (İngilizce, Almanca, Fransızca vb.) öğretiminde sıklıkla kullanılmaktadır. Ancak Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde filmlerden faydalanma konusunda yapılan çalışmalar oldukça sınırlıdır. The use of videos and movies in teaching foreign languages has become very common in recent years. Teaching foreign languages is not limited to finding an equivalence with the native language, but to find out the how to use the sentence in the correct context with the correct words. This can be achieved through movies. Movies are one of the best audio-visual materials for teaching both main language skills and real world contexts and culture. Movies are very popular in teaching the most commonly taught languages, such as, English, German, and French, while on the other hand, studies in teaching Turkish through movies are limited.
