"Türkiye'de İletişim Bilimleri kuram ve kavram olarak pek ele alınan bir konu olarak karşımıza çıkmamaktadır. İletişim bilimleri ana bilim dalı ve iletişim bilimleri bilim dalı altında farklı alt konular işlenmektedir ancak iletişim bilimlerinin kuramsal ve kavramsal çerçevesini belirleyip, bu bilim alanının konu kapsamını anlamamıza yardımcı olacak çalışmalar bulunmamaktadır. Elbetteki bu durum biraz da iletişim bilimlerinin disiplinlerarası niteliğinden kaynaklanmaktadır. Ancak doktora düzeyinde eğitimi verilen bir bilim dalının kavramsal bir zemine ihtiyaç duyduğunu da göz ardı etmemek gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye'de bir bilim dalı olarak İletişim Bilimleri alanını ve iletişim bilimleri kapsamında yer alan konuları incelemektir. Bu amaçla, Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu'nun çevrimiçi tez kataloğundan 154 doktora tezi incelenmiştir. Toplanan bilgiler istatistiksel sonuçlar elde etmek ve özet tablolar oluşturmak amacıyla excel programında çeşitli parametrelere göre analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda iletişim bilimleri alanında tamamlanan ilk tezin 1998 yılında olduğu, iletişim bilimleri alanında en fazla doktora tezinin Marmara Üniversitesi'nde yapıldığı ve iletişim bilimleri kapsamında en çok araştırılan konunun sinema olduğu ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonunda, bu alanda araştırma yapmak isteyen araştırmacılara öneri mahiyetinde, iletişim bilimleri alanında daha önce değinilmemiş veya az değinilmiş konu tespitinde bulunmaya çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca Türkiye'de iletişim bilimleri alanının konusal ve kavramsal çerçevesini belirlemeye yönelik daha fazla akademik yayına ihtiyaç olduğu değerlendirilmiştir. "

Surely, of course, this is due to the interdisciplinary nature of the little communication sciences at the doctoral level, but it needs a conceptual ground of a science education is also provided should not be ignored.The aim of this study is to examine subjects within the scope of communication sciences and communication sciences as a science area in Turkey. For this purpose, 154 doctoral theses had been examined from the Higher Education Council's online thesis catalog. Collected information had been analyzed for obtaining to statistical results and to create summary tables according to various parameters in the Excel program. The analysis of results show that the first thesis was completed in the 1998, most doctoral thesis have been completed at Marmara University and most researched subject is the cinema in the communication sciences's area. At the end of the study, previously not examined or less studied research subjects were identified in order to guide researchers who want to do research in the area of communication sciences. It is also considered the need for more academic publications to determine the subject and the conceptual framework of the field of communication sciences in Turkey."
