Bu çalışma kadına yönelik şiddetin medyada özellikle yazılı basında ne şekilde yer aldığını incelemektedir. Çalışma, basının kadına yönelik şiddet haberlerini verirken kullandığı dilin etkilerini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Şiddet gibi hassas bir konuda basının ne derece sorumlu bir yayıncılık anlayışıyla yayın yaptığı çok önemlidir. Ayrıca kullandığı kelimeleri sansasyondan uzak ve objektif bir biçimde seçmesi de konumuz açısından ayrı bir değer kazanmaktadır. Bu açıdan değerlendirdiğimizde, çalışmamız basının bu tür haberleri sunarken kullandığı dilin olası sonuçlarını incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Kadına yönelik şiddet dünyada ve Türkiye’de oldukça yaygın bir sosyal problemdir. Çalışma, basında kadına yönelik şiddet haberlerinin ne şekilde sunulduğunu nitelik ve nicelik analizi yöntemiyle ele alacaktır. Ayrıca sansansyonel ifadelerin ve şiddet içeriğinin basında ne şekilde yer bulduğunu göstermeye de çalışacaktır. Çalışma, nicelik analizinde haberin verilme türü, uygulanan şiddet türü ve haberin hangi sayfalarda yer aldığını analiz edecektir. Niteliksel veri analizinde ise kadına yönelik şiddet haberlerini ve basının bu haberleri sunarken kullanmış olduğu dili ayrıntılı bir biçimde ele alınacaktır. Çalışma, 2005-2008 yılları arasında Hürriyet, Sabah ve Posta gazetelerinde çıkan kadına yönelik şiddet haberlerini konumuz açısından ele alacaktır. Bu gazeteler, okunma oranı, yaygınlık ve kolay ulaşılabilirlik gibi unsurlar nedeniyle seçilmiştir. Çalışma sonunda incelenen gazetelerdeki kadına yönelik şiddet haberlerinin özensiz, sansasyonel ve şiddet içerikli uslupla yer aldığı ortaya konulmuştur.
This study examines the effects of the media’s especially printed media’s representation of violence against women. The study aims to examine the effects of the language used in the newspapers about violance towards women news. The degree of responsibility, that press shows about publishing the news about violence, which is a very sensitive matter, is a highly important issue. Besides, choosing the words used in these news, apart from sensation and as objective as possible is very valuable for our subject also. Considering these, our study aims to examine the effects and possible results of the language the press uses in this kind of news. Violence against women is an widespread social problem in Turkey and in the world. The study deals with how the press presents the news about violence towards women via qualitative and quantitative analysis methods. Besides, it also tries to show how sensational expressions and violence content takes place in press. The study will analyse the genre, the way of presentation and the place of the news in various newspapers in a quantitative analysis manner. Whereas in the qualitative data analysis, it is touched upon the news of violence towards women and how the press uses the language while presenting these news in detail. The study will manage to examine the news about violence towards women in various newspapers such as Sabah, Hürriyet and Posta in between 2005 & 2008 according to our topic. These newspapers are chosen due to their press run, widespread availability and easy accessibility. In this respect, the study shows that examined newspapers report the incidents regarding the violence against women in a slipshod, sensational and violent manner.
