Türk ve Fars kültürleri sadece coğrafi anlamda değil edebi değerlerin alışverişi ve birlikteliği bağlamında da asırlar boyunca birbirlerini etkilemiş ve beslemiş iki büyük komşu medeniyettir. Bilhassa Türklerin İslamiyet’i kabul etmelerinden sonra başta Gazneliler olmak üzere İran’da uzun bir dönem Türk hanedanlar hüküm sürmüştür. Bu hükümranlık sürecinin doğal bir sonucu olarak da İran kütüphanelerinin çoğunda Türkçe yazılmış yüzlerce el yazması mevcuttur. Türkçe yazmaların yoğunlukta olduğu İran’daki önemli kütüphanelerden biri de Tebriz Milli Kütüphanesidir. Bugün Tebriz Milli Kütüphanesinde hem İran hem de o dönem Osmanlı kültür coğrafyasından İran’a götürülmüş Türkçe el yazmaları yer almaktadır. Türk dili açısından düşünüldüğünde ise bu el yazmaları Osmanlı, Azeri ve Çağatay Türkçeleriyle yazıldıkları için ayrı bir önem taşımaktadır. Tebriz Milli Kütüphanesinde bulunan Türkçe yazmalarla ilgili daha önce Şadi Aydın bir katalog çalışması yapmıştır. Ancak gözden kaçırılan ve katalogda yayınlanmayan bazı yazmaların varlığı, kimi yazmaların ise içerikleri ile isimlerinin farklılık göstermesi ve yazmaların herhangi bir tasnife tabi tutulmadan ortaya konması böyle bir araştırmanın yapılmasına zemin hazırlamıştır.

Turkish and Persian cultures are two major neighboring civilizations that have influenced and fed each other for centuries not only in geographical sense but also in the context of exchange and coexistence of literary values. Especially after Turks’ adoption of Islam, Turkish dynasties like Ghaznavids ruled over Iran for a long period. As a natural result of this sovereignty process, in Iran today, hundreds of manuscripts written in Turkish are available in most libraries. One of the significant libraries in Iran where Turkish manuscripts are plentiful is the Tabriz National Library. Today, there are Turkish manuscripts in the Tabriz National Library both from Ottoman geo-cultural territory which were brought to Iran in that era. These manuscripts, when they are thought in view of Turkish language, have considerable significance as they were written in Ottoman, Azeri and Cagatay. Şadi Aydın conducted cataloque study before concerning the Turkish manuscripts that are in the Tabriz National Library; yet, existence of the manuscripts which escape from notice and those which have never been published and the manuscripts demonstrating difference in terms of their names to do with their content and revelation of manuscripts without any kind of selection applied to them lay the foundations of making this research.
