Özet:

This study aims to identify the opinions of the music teacher candidates on the observations they have made in the school experience course. For this purpose, in the 2018-2019 academic year, the Mehmet Akif Ersoy University has been determined as a sample group of research for final class students who take the school experience course in the main science of music education. The study is a semi-configured conversation form developed by researchers as a data collection tool, carried out with the research method. The interview form consists of 4 open end questions, the answers to the interview questions of the music teacher candidates are interpreted by content analysis. The questions presented in the interview form are also the sub-problems of the research. The study identified the candidates for music teachers, the class domination and the communication language used by the music teacher in the class; the teacher's professional motivation, the school's educational and teaching facilities in the music class; the students' interests in the music class. As a result, the music teacher candidates have been given positive opinions only about the class domination of the music teacher; the teacher’s communication language, professional motivation, the school’s educational and teaching facilities in particular music lessons and the students’ interests in the music lessons have been given negative opinions. Based on the findings obtained from the study, it was determined that the candidates for music teachers had mostly negative opinions about the observations they made in the school experience course; significant issues related to the schools they observed, music teachers and the music class environment were identified. Researchers have developed suggestions that can contribute to the field to solve these problems.

This study aims to determine the views of the pre-service music teachers about the observations they made in the school experience course. For this purpose, in the 2018-2019 academic year, the last year students who attended the school experience course in the music education department of Mehmet Akif Ersoy University were selected as the sample group of the study. The study was conducted with qualitative research method and semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers was used as data collection tool. The interview form consisted of 4 open-ended questions, and the answers of the pre-service music teachers to the interview questions were analyzed and interpreted through content analysis. The questions in the interview form also constitute the sub-problems of the research. In the study, the views of pre-service music teachers was determined about, music teacher's classroom domination and the language of communication used in the lesson; the professional motivation of the teacher; students' interests in music lesson. As a result; it was observed that the pre-service music teachers only had positive views about the music teacher's class dominance; It was determined that the pre-service music teachers had negative views about communication language used by the teacher in the course, professional motivation, education and training opportunities of the school and the students' interest in music lesson. Based on the findings of the study, it was determined that the pre-service music teachers had mostly negative views about the observations they made in the school experience course and important problems were determined related to the schools where teachers observe, music teachers and music lesson environment. Suggestions that could contribute to the field for solving these problems were developed by the researchers.
