Abstract:

Abstract:

Dental anthropology studies in biological anthropology have a very important role in determining the lifestyle, social and cultural structures, paleoecology and paleodities of ancient communities. Dental fractures formed by bacterial fermentation of carbohydrates that occur during the purification of nutrients that are among the main tasks of the teeth are among the best dental pathologies that show the nutritional structure. The aim of the study is to determine the frequency of the tooth crash in the Spradon Ancient City community, which was identified during the mining works carried out by the Istanbul Archaeological Museum Directorate in 2011 and dated to the late Roman era. It will also be assessed by the frequency, age, gender, and the area in which it is formed. The study found that the rate of dental damage in the community was 12.9%. This ratio was 15.6% in female individuals; 13.22% in male individuals; 6.38% in adolescent individuals; 4.25% in children and 4.25% in babies. In isolated teeth, the damage to the teeth was 13.4%. When examined the areas where the tooth crush was formed, the crush was observed in the oclusal area with 30% of the most frequent. The pulpaya scratch was observed at 2.6% in female individuals, 1.92% in male individuals and 1.06% in children. The baby has not been affected by the dirt, and the isolated teeth have not been affected by the dirt. In terms of age, it is 37.5 percent most common in advanced adults, while 14.8 percent in young adults and 11.5 percent in middle adults. The spradon society has a high rate of 12.9% of the rate of tooth fractures, which indicates that the society has a carbohydrate-weighted dietary structure. The spradon society’s tooth loss compared to the ancient Anadolu communities, it is seen to be higher than the other communities with its contemporary.

Abstract:

Dental anthropology studies in biological anthropology have an important place in determining the lifestyles, social and cultural structures, paleoecologies and paleodiets of ancient populations. Dental caries, which are formed by bacterial fermentation of carbohydrates that occur during the grinding of the nutrients that are among the main duties of the teeth, are among the dental pathologies that best reveal the nutritional structure. The aim of the study was to determine the frequency of dental caries in the Spradon Antique City, which was discovered during the excavations carried out by the Istanbul Archaeological Museum in 2011 and dated to the Late Roman Period. In addition, the incidence of dental caries in the population will be evaluated in terms of age, gender and the region where the caries occur. As a result of the examinations, the tooth decay rate of the population was found to be 12.9%. This rate is 15.6% for female, 13,22% in male subjects; 6,38% of adolescents; no tooth decay was observed in infants. In isolated teeth, tooth decay was found as 13.42%. When the areas where dental caries occur were examined, caries formation was the most common occlusal area with 30%. Pulpa caries in the teeth was 2.6% in female, 1.92% in male subjects and 1.06% in infants. In terms of age, the rate of caries was 37.5% and the most common in advanced adult cases was caries, 14.88% in young adults and 11,5% in middle adults. The prevalence of dental caries in the Spradon population is 12.9%, indicating that the population has a carbohydrate-based diet. The tooth decay rate of the Spradon community is higher than that of other contemporary societies when compared with the old Anatolian populations.
