Bu çalışma, sosyobilimsel konulara yönelik animasyonların sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının sosyobilimsel konulara yönelik bilimsel düşünme alışkanlıklarına etkisini araştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışmaya Artvin Çoruh Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretmenliği programında okuyan 59 birinci sınıf öğrencisi katılmıştır. Yarı deneysel araştırma yönteminin kullanıldığı bu çalışmada deney ve kontrol grupları rastgele atanmıştır. Çalik ve Coll (2012) tarafından geliştirilen, “Bilimsel Düşünme Alışkanlıkları Ölçeği” ön-test ve son test olarak kullanılmıştır. Bağımsız gruplar t-testi bulgularına göre, deney ve kontrol grupları arasında son testte “merak” alt faktörlerinde deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur. Çalışmanın sonucunda, sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının sosyobilimsel konularla ilgili bilimsel düşünme alışkanlıklarının nedenlerini sorgulayan nitel veya karma çalışmaların yapılması önerilmektedir.
This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the impact of social information animations on the scientific thinking habits of teachers candidates on social-moving subjects. The study was attended by 59 first-class students studying in Artvin Çoruh University's Social Information Teaching Program. In this study using the semi-experimental research method, the experiment and control groups were randomly assigned. Developed by Chalik and Coll (2012), the "Scientific Thought Habits Scale" has been used as a pre-test and final test. According to the T-Test findings of independent groups, there was a significant difference between the experiment and the control groups in the last test in the subfactors of "interest" in favour of the experiment group. As a result of the study, it is recommended to conduct qualitative or mixed studies that question the causes of the scientific thinking habits of the social-mobilistic subjects of the teacher candidates.
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of socioscientific issues-based animations on pre-service social studies teachers’ scientific habits of mind regarding socio-scientific issues. The sample consisted of 59 pre-service social studies teachers drawn from the first year of the study at Artvin Çoruh University. Within a quasi-experimental research design, the Scientific Habits of Mind Scale by Çalik and Coll (2012) was administered as pre- and post-test. The results of independent samples t-test between post-test mean scores of the experimental and control groups only showed a significant difference at ‘curiosity’ sub-factor in favor of the experimental one. In light of the results, the current study recommends that further studies employing qualitative or mixed methods should inquiry pre-service social studies teachers’ reasons of scientific habits of mind via socioscientific issues.
