Abstract:

Although folk tales have been created in oral culture atmosphere, they were converted into writing through the spread of literature and the development of printing techniques. The story of Kurbani is one of the folk tales that has kept through such a process. The story belongs to Âşık Kurbani who lived in Azerbaijan in XVI century. The Kurbani story arised in Azerbaijan but this story is known in Turkey. The oral and written variants of this story is available in Turkey. The presence of oral and written text, of course Turkey and Azerbaijan makes it possible for us to accept the victim as a joint poet. This situation makes it possible for us to accept Kurbani as a common ministrel of Azerbaijan and Turkey. Variants of verbally told Kurbani story was compiled from Eastern Anatolia region in Turkey. In this study, although some information is given about these texts, the written examples of the story are emphasized. With the weakening of the verbal transmission, readers have replaced instead of the audience. In this process, folk tales first became manuscripts; secondly, by the development of printing techniques it turned into lithography, and eventually turned into printed books and took its place in the history of culture. In this context, a text of Kurbani's story, two texts of lithography and the text of M. Z. Korgunal, which was published in new letters, were studied. In the article, these texts were introduced and their episodes were compared; language and style differentiation. Also considering the totality of the subject; Kurbani's life, poems and Azerbaijan versions of his story are briefly discussed.
