Abstract:

Political, social, cultural and economic developments since the twentieth century have forced countries to develop policies and practices aimed at teaching foreign languages to their citizens and teaching their own languages to foreigners from the other side. In this context, especially in recent years Turkey have carried out important work on to teach Turkey Turkish to foreigners. The aim of this research is to develop a scale to be used in determining the learning practices of students learning Turkish as a foreign language. Thus, it is aimed to provide a valid and reliable collection tool which will be used by those concerned to determine the deficiencies and preventable measures about the learning practices of the students as they learn Turkish as a foreign language. This research is a quantitative and descriptive scale development study. The sample of the research is composed of 653 students who take Turkish language preparatory education at Kyrgyz-Turk Manas University. The data of the study were collected on a 42-item draft scale. Validity and reliability analyzes were performed on collected data. In the validity study, descriptive factor analysis and discriminant analysis were performed. For reliability analysis, internal consistency and stability characteristics were examined. At the end of the analyzes; A 30-item "Foreign Language Learning Practice Scale" (FLLPS) was developed under 6 factors. KMO value of FDI is 0.881; Bartlett Test values x2 = 3949,698; SD = 435; p <0.000. The items in the scale have explained 49,650% of the total variance. The Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient of the scale is 0,880. Accordingly, it can be said that FLLPS is a valid and reliable scale that can be used in determining the qualifications and competences of the applications that the students are learning Turkish as a foreign language.
