Sözlük ve Sözlük Kullanıcıları: Hangi Sözlük Kimin İçindir?

Özellikle son elli yılda bilgi teknolojilerinin ilerlemesine paralel olarak sözlük çeşitlerinde muazzam bir artış oldu. Bu süre zarfında tek dilli, çift dilli, çok dilli, çeviri, terim, resimli, basılı, elektronik, çocuk, öğrenici vb. sözlük türleri kullanıcılara sunuldu. Yapılan araştırmalar, kullanıcıların bu geniş sözlük yelpazesi içerisinden kendi ihtiyaçlarına uygun kaynağı seçmekte zorlandığını ve çoğu zaman doğru tercihte bulunamadıklarını göstermektedir. Bu yüzden kafalarındaki soru işaretlerini gidermek için sözlüklere başvuran kullanıcılar, yanlış eser tercih ettiklerinden ya yanlış, eksik bilgi edinmekte ya da aradıkları bilgiye erişememektedir. Bu istenmeyen durumun ortadan kaldırılması için kullanıcıların sıklıkla karşılaştığı “tek dilli, iki dilli, iki dillileştirilmiş, kağıt, elektronik” sözlük kavramlarını açıklamak ve kimin, hangi durumda, hangi sözlüğe başvurması gerektiğini göstermek gerekmektedir. Bu amaçla nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman analizi ile daha önce yapılan çalışmalar ve alanla ilgili kaynaklar “Kim, hangi durumda, hangi sözlüğü kullanmalıdır?” problem cümlesi çerçevesinde incelenmiş, elde edilen bulgulardan hareketle araştırmaya dâhil edilen sözlük türleri tanımlanmış, birbiriyle karşılaştırılmış ve kimin hangi sözlüğe başvurması gerektiği anlatılmıştır. Bunun yanında kullanıcıların kim olduğu ve ne zaman sözlüğe başvurdukları da gösterilmiştir. Böylece sözlük kullanıcılarının sıklıkla karşılaştıkları “tek dilli, iki dilli, iki dillileştirilmiş, kağıt ve elektronik” sözlüklerin üstün (avantaj) ve zayıf (dezavantaj) yanları belirlenebilmiş ve onların “doğru sözlük seçimi” yapabilmeleri için çeşitli öneriler sunulmuştur.

Especially in the last five decades, there has been a tremendous increase in the dictionary varieties, parallel to the advances of information technologies. During this period, single-language, double-language, multi-language, translation, term, picture, printed, electronic, child, student, etc. Dictionary types are presented to users. Research shows that users have difficulty choosing the source for their own needs from this wide range of dictionaries and often do not have the right preference. Therefore, users who apply to dictionaries to fix the question signs in their heads do not have access to the information they prefer for the wrong work, either for the wrong, the missing, or the information they are looking for. To eliminate this unwanted situation, it is necessary to explain the concepts of the "one-language, two-language, two-language, paper, electronic" dictionary that users often encounter and to indicate who, in which circumstances, which dictionary should apply. For this purpose, from the quality research methods to the document analysis to the previous studies and field-related sources "Who, in what case, which dictionary should be used?" The vocabulary that is studied in the framework of the problem phrase, which is involved in the study by movement from the findings obtained, is defined, compared with each other and described who should apply to which vocabulary. It also shows who the users are and when they are referring to the dictionary. Thus, the superior (avantage) and weak (disavantage) aspects of the "one-language, two-language, two-language, paper and electronic" dictionaries that vocabulary users often encounter have been identified and various recommendations have been presented for them to be able to do the "right dictionary choice".

Especially in the last fifty years there has been a tremendous increase in the number of dictionary types parallel to the progress of information technology. During this period, dictionary types such as monolingual, bilingual, multilingual, translation, term, pictorial, printed, electronic, children, learner dictionaries were presented to users. Researches show that users find it difficult to select the appropriate source for their needs from within this broad dictionary types, and often cannot find the right one. Naturally, users who hope to remove the question marks in their heads, either they get the wrong / incomplete information or they are unable to obtain the information they seek because they prefer the wrong work. In order to remove this undesirable situation, it is necessary to explain the concepts of "monolingual, bilingual, bilingualized, printed, electronic" dictionary that users frequently encounter and to show which dictionary should be consulted by whom in which case. For this purpose, previous studies with document analysis, which is one of the qualitative research methods, and sources related to the field were examined in the context of the problem culprit, "Which dictionary should be used by whom in which case?", and from the obtained findings, dictionary types have been defined, compared with each other, and it has been explained who should consult to which dictionary. Besides, it also shows who the users are and when they apply to the dictionary. Thus, the superior (advantageous) and weak (disadvantageous) aspects of the "monolingual, bilingual, bilingualized, printed and electronic" dictionaries frequently encountered by dictionary users can be identified and various suggestions have been made to enable them to "choose the right dictionary".
