Abstract:

The petitions are the kind of official documents that people can use most in daily life. The petition written on the subject of wishes and complaints comes to the meaning of "istida, arzuhâl" in TDK Contemporary Turkish Dictionary "signed and addressed to the official authorities in order to inform a wish. The purpose of this study is to identify the mistakes in the petitions written by pupils who are studying at a state university and to make suggestions for eliminating mistakes in form and content in these petitions. In this study, a document review method was used. The study group of the study forms the wishes of 429 learners at a state university. The data were collected during the fall semester of 2015-2016 on the same faculty of a state university on the petitions written by undergraduate students studying in different departments. The subjects of the study were determined as to the form and content of the petitions. Content analysis was used in the analysis of the data. It is observed that mistakes of form and content are frequent in the petitions included in the survey. In the study, 429 petitions were written in accordance with 74 petition writing rules and 355 petition examples were found to be inaccurate in terms of content and form. As a result of frequent repetition and punctuation mistakes in the petitions, it has been reached that it is an important problem that it is not possible to determine where to write.
