Modern çeviri kuramlarında yazın çevirisinin doğası gereği karmaşık ve çok boyutlu bir etkinlik olduğu düşüncesi genel olarak kabul görmektedir. Çünkü yazın çevirisi sürecini doğrudan ya da dolaylı olarak etkileyen birçok etmen vardır. Söz gelimi yazınsal metinlerin önemli özelliklerinden bir tanesi yoruma açık olmalarıdır. Bu da aynı metnin farklı çevirmenler tarafından farklı yorumlanmasına ve çevrilmesine sebep olmaktadır. Aynı çevirmenin dahi aynı metni farklı zaman ve koşullarda farklı yorumlama ihtimali vardır. Yorumlama sorununa ek olarak hem içeriği hem de yazarın biçemini korumaya çalışmak da yazın çevirisinde önemli bir sorun teşkil etmektedir. Mevcut çalışmada, bu ön kabullerden yola çıkılarak; kısa öykü çevirisinde karşılaşılan çeviri sorunları ele alınmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, Günter Grass’ın Die Linkshänder başlıklı kısa öyküsü ve bu kısa öykünün Kâmuran Şipal tarafından Solaklar başlığıyla yapılan çevirisi benimsenen çeviri yöntemi hesaba katılarak incelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda, kaynak metin ve çevirisi Christiane Nord’un ‘çeviri amaçlı metin çözümlemesi modeli’ esas alınarak çözümlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak; kültürel farkların ve Alman okur ile Türk okurun artalan bilgisinin farklı olmasının çeşitli çeviri sorunlarına sebep olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada çevirmenin benimsediği çeviri yönteminin çevirmenin kararlarını doğrudan etkilediği görülmüş ve bu nedenle karşılaşılan çeviri sorunlarına bu bağlamda çözüm önerileri getirilmiştir.
In modern translation theories, the idea that summer translation is a complex and multi-dimensional activity is generally accepted due to its nature. Because there are many factors that directly or indirectly affect the summer translation process. One of the important characteristics of the written text is that it is open to the explanation. This also causes the same text to be interpreted and translated differently by different translators. Even the same translation has the possibility of different interpretations of the same text in different times and conditions. In addition to the problem of interpretation, trying to preserve both the content and the form of the writer is also a major problem in summer translation. In the present study, starting from these pre-acceptance; the short story translation has been addressed. For this purpose, the short story by Günter Grass, called Die Linkshänder, and the translation of this short story by Kâmuran Shipal, called The Left, were studied by taking into account the translation method. In this context, the source text and translation was solved on the basis of Christiane Nord's 'translation text resolution model'. As a result; cultural differences and the increased knowledge of the German reader and Turkish reader have been found to cause various translation problems. The study found that the method of translation adopted by the translation directly affects the decisions of translation and therefore the problems of translation faced in this context were suggested solutions.
It is generally accepted in the modern translation theories that literary translation is a complex and multidimensional activity by its nature, since there are many factors which influence the process of literary translation directly or indirectly. For instance, one of the most important characteristics of literary texts is that they are open to interpretation. This leads to different interpretations and translations of the same text by different translators. Even the same translator might interpret the same text differently at different times and in different conditions. In addition to this interpretation problem, trying to keep both the content and the literary style of the author is an important problem in literary translation. On the basis of these presuppositions, this study seeks to examine translation problems encountered in translating short stories from German into Turkish. In accordance with this purpose, Günter Grass’ short story Die Linkshänder and its Turkish translation titled Solaklar translated by Kâmuran Şipal were analyzed comparatively taking the translation method employed into account. In this regard, the source text and its translation were analyzed by taking the “translation-oriented text analysis model” of Christiane Nord as a basis.
