Kadınların toplumsal yaşamın her alanında olduğu gibi iş piyasasında da görünürlük kazanması, istihdama katılarak aktif rol oynamaları sürdürülebilir kalkınma ve kadının konumu açısından oldukça önemlidir. Türkiye’de kadınların işgücüne katılım oranları henüz istenilen seviyede olmamakla birlikte, kadınların genelde vasıfsız ve düşük ücretli iş kollarında istihdam edildikleri görülmektedir. Özellikle hizmet sektörü içinde vasıfsız ve düşük ücretli iş kollarında kayıt dışı çalışan kadın oranı oldukça yüksektir. Bu sektörde çalışan kadınların, genelde düşük gelirli ve güvencesiz işlerde yoğunlaştığı gözlenmektedir. Son yıllarda hizmet sektörü içinde “ev hizmetlisi” olarak başkalarının evine temizliğe giderek çalışan kadınların sigorta kapsamına alınmaları aksi halde çalıştıranlar için bir dizi yaptırımla sonuçlanabilecek yeni bir süreç başlatılmak istenmektedir. Çalışmanın odağında bu sektör içinde kayıt dışı çalışan ev hizmetlerine giden kadınlar bulunmaktadır. Araştırma, Trabzon’da ev hizmetlisi olarak çalışan kadınların genel görünümleri ile çalışma deneyimlerini aktarmak üzere kurgulanmıştır. Bu amaçla, ev hizmetlerini yerine getirmek üzere başkalarının evine giden 20 kadınla derinlemesine mülakat gerçekleştirilmiştir. Mülakat neticesinde ev hizmetlerine giden kadınların sosyo-demografik görünümleri, çalışma deneyimleri (iş bulma yolları, çalışma gerekçeleri, yapılan işin niteliği, işverenle olan ilişkileri, işten memnuniyet durumları vb), karşılaştıkları sorunlar ve beklentileri ortaya konmuştur. Özellikle yoksul, eğitim ve beceri düzeyleri düşük, iş deneyimleri kısıtlı olan kadınların bu işi tercih ettikleri gözlenmiştir. Katılımcıların birleştikleri ortak nokta ise sigortanın devlet tarafından karşılanması ya da temizlik şirketi çatısı altında herkesin hak ettiği ücret karşılığında çalışmasıdır.

Women gaining visibility in the employment market as well as in all areas of social life and playing active role by participating in employment are very important for the sustainable development and in the women’s status. Although female employment rate is not yet as intented level, it is seen that women are generally employed in unskilled and low-income jobs. Particularly the ratio of female labors who working as unregistered in the service sector is quite high. It is observed that women working in this sector are intensified on at the low-paid and insecured jobs. In recent years, a new process intented to start that could be taken to the coverage of women working in this sector, otherwise result in a new set of sanctions to employers. This study's focus is women who are unregistered employees in the domestic service sector. This study has been conducted to reveal the general view of women working as domestic workers and their working experience in Trabzon. For this purpose, in-depth interviews have been performed with 20 women going other’s house to fulfill domestic services. At the end of the in-depth interviews, participants’ socio-demographic profile, working experiences (the ways to find their jobs, the reason why they work, the nature of the work, the relationship with employers, job satisfaction level etc.), their problems that they face during performing their jobs, their expectations have been revaled. In particular, it is observed that women having low education and skills levels and limited work experience prefer to work. The common point is that all participants agree insurances should be covered by the state or working for deservedly fee in the domestic service company.
