Abstract:

Abstract:

This study aims to analyze the acquisition processes, values and uses of children of primary school age in Turkish, in the framework of Culioli's (1990) vocabulary theory at the cognitive, vocabulary and behavioral level. The work group of the research is made up of children who study in the first classes of primary schools associated with the National Education Directorate of Erzurum or Erzurum. The data were obtained by two educational institutions in each class as a result of a voluntary conversation of 30 minutes with each group, selected by 5 girls and 5 boys. The data is analyzed by content and visual analysis. The contradictions, causes, comparisons and evidence contexts and values they have have been analyzed and interpreted in various dimensions. The findings obtained from the research found that children in primary school age produced each of the connections that were solved with competence and in the level and in the meaningful values that adults used. It has been concluded that the age and gender are not an important factor in the use of the links, and the terms of the wording determine their use. Also, in the use of some connections such as "but and even" the existence of a value of the pragmatic effect word (perlocutoire) manifests itself. Thus, through this connection, children aim to create an influence on the person they orally communicate and to convince and influence the person with this influence. In all of the proof connections, the presence of an added value is felt.

It is also emphasized that age and gender are not of importance in the use of conjunctions and that the utterance conditions determine the use of conjunctions. Besides, the pragmatic dominance of perlocutionary effect of such conjunctions as “ama” and “bile” is present. That is, the children aim to affect the person even persuade him by using these conjunctions with that effect. One can feel the additive value of argumentative conjunctions.
