İlkokul 4. Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Eleştirel Okuma Becerilerinin Çeşitli Değişkenler Açısından İncelenmesi

Abstract:

Bu araştırma, ilkokul dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin eleştirel okuma becerilerinin çeşitli değişkenler açısından incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma, 2015-2016 eğitim-öğretim yılı, Diyarbakır ili Silvan ilçesindeki köy okullarının 4. sınıflarında öğrenim görmekte olan 54 erkek ve 46 kız öğrenci üzerinde yapılmıştır. Araştırmada ilişkisel tarama yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama amacıyla, bir adet “kişisel bilgi formu” ve Acat (2006) tarafından geliştirilen ve geçerlilik ve güvenirliği yapılan “eleştirel okuma ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin eleştirel okuma becerilerinin orta seviyede olduğu görülmüştür. Korelasyonlara göre eleştirel okuma düzeyinin ders başarısı ve okunan kitap sayısı arttığında fazlalaştığı, Tv izleme oranı arttığında ise düştüğü görülmüştür. Ailenin gelir durumu ile eleştirel okuma düzeyi arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmamıştır. Hiyerarşik regresyon analizinde ise etkililiği araştırılan değişkenlerin (cinsiyet, okunan kitap sayısı, günlük Tv izleme saati, ailenin gelir durumu ve sosyal bilgiler, matematik, fen bilimleri, Türkçe ders notları) eleştirel okuma düzeyindeki varyansın % 46'sını açıkladığı görülmüştür. Toplam 5 blok olarak yapılan analiz sonucuna göre cinsiyet, Tv izleme saati, okunan kitap sayısı ve ders notları değişkenlerinin eleştirel okuma düzeylerindeki varyansın açıklanmasında çeşitli oranlarda anlamlı katkıları olduğu görülürken, ailenin gelir durumu değişkeninin bir etkisi olmadığı görülmüştür. Regresyon katsayılarının anlamlılığına ilişkin yapılan t testi sonucunda öğrencilerin günlük Tv izleme saati ve Türkçe ders başarılarının eleştirel okuma becerisi üzerinde anlamlı etkisinin olduğu görülmüştür. Türkçe ders başarısı eleştirel okuma düzeyindeki varyansın açıklanmasına en fazla katkı yapan değişken olarak göze çarpmaktadır.

Abstract:

This study aims to investigate criticaly reading skills of 4th school students in terms of several variables. The sampling consists of 54 male and 46 female school students studying in Silvan town of Diyarbakır province. The study was designed by correlational survey model. As data collection instrument, a personal Information form and a scale of reading critically which was developed and validated by Acat (2006). Results show that students' critically reading skills are at medium level. Correlations indicates that as the degree of achievement and the number of book read increases, their's critically reading skills rise. When the rate of watching Tv increases, their's critically reading skills decrease. On the other hand, there is no relationship between family income level and critically reading skills. In hierarchical regression analysis, we found that independent variables (gender, the number of books read, the rate of watching Tv daily, family income, the achievements of socual studies, science, maths, and Turkish) explain % 46 of variance in critically reading skills. According to analysis results in five blocks, we found that while gender, the rate of watching TV, the number of books read, and academic achievement contribute significantly to the variance of critically reading skills, family income level doesn't have predictive effect on them. Furthermore, t test results point out that rate of watching Tv and Turkish course achievement have predictive effect on their critically reading skills. Also, Turkish course achievement have contribute to the variance of critically reading skills mostly.
