İlköğretim Öğrencilerin Doğa Kavramına İlişkin Algılarının Metafor Yoluyla İncelenmesi

Abstract:

Bu çalışmanın amacı, ilköğretim öğrencilerin doğa kavramına ilişkin algılarını metaforlar aracılığıyla belirlemektir. Metaforlar, ilköğretim öğrencilerinin doğa kavramına ilişkin sahip oldukları algıları anlamada, açığa çıkarmada önemli bir araştırma aracıdır. Çalışma, Siirt il merkezde yer alan ilköğretim okullarında öğrenim gören öğrenciler ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada, ilköğretim öğrencilerinin doğa kavramına ilişkin sahip oldukları algılarını hangi metaforlarla açıklamaktadır? Bu metaforlar ortak özellikler bakımından hangi kavramsal kategoriler altında toplanabilir? sorularına cevap aranmıştır. Çalışmada, nitel araştırma desenlerinden biri olan olgubilim (fenomenografi) deseni kullanılmıştır. Verilerinin toplanmasında ilköğretim öğrencilerden “doğa…… gibidir, çünkü….” cümlesini yer aldığı bir form kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi tekniğiyle çözümlenmiştir. Çalışmada ilköğretim öğrencileri doğa kavramına ilişkin toplam 45 adet geçerli metafor ürettikleri belirlenmiştir. Bununla birlikte ilköğretim öğrencileri doğa kavramına ilişkin geliştirmiş oldukları metaforlar dört kavramsal kategori altında toplandığı belirlenmiştir. Bunlar doğanın yaşamsal fonksiyonu (%40), doğanın çeşitliliği (%35,3), doğanın estetik ve sanatsal yönü (%14,2) ve doğanın dengesi ve kuralları (%13,7) şeklindedir. Sonuç olarak doğa kavramının metaforlar aracılığıyla ortaya konulması doğa kavramının algılanması ve daha etkili bir doğa eğitimi programı oluşturma açısından önemli olabilir.

The aim of this study is to determine the perceptions of primary school students about the concept of nature through metaphors. Metaphors are an important research tool in understanding the perceptions that primary school students have about the concept of nature. The study was conducted with students studying in primary schools located in Siirt province center. In the study, what metaphors explain the perceptions that primary school students have about the concept of nature? In which conceptual categories can these metaphors be gathered in terms of common characteristics? Asked for answers to questions. In the study, one of the qualitative research patterns is the phenomenography design used. In the collection of data, primary school students are like “natural... because... “It is a phrase in which the phrase is used. The data obtained is analyzed by content analysis technique. The study found that primary school students produced a total of 45 current metaphors about the concept of nature. However, it has been determined that the metaphors they have developed about the concept of nature are gathered under four conceptual categories. These are in the form of the vital function of nature (40%), the diversity of nature (35,3), the aesthetic and artistic aspect of nature (14,2) and the balance and rules of nature (13,7). As a result, the exposure of the concept of nature through metaphors may be important in terms of the perception of the concept of nature and the creation of a more effective program of nature education.

The purpose of this study is to determine elementary students' conceptions about nature by uysing metaphor analysis. Metaphors are important research instruments to understand and expose the students' conceptions about nature. The study is conducted in Siirt City with 273 elementary students. There are two main research problem: 1) Which metaphors do elementary students' conceptions describe? 2) Which conceptual categories can be constructed by using these metaphors? During the study, phenomenography, which is a qualitative research method, is applied. During data collection, a form which asks "nature is like ........., because ........." were filled. Data was analyzed by using content analysis technique. At the end of the data analyzes procedure, 45 metaphors are determined about nature from elementary students.
