Taş ve ağaçtan sonra kullanılmaya başlanan deri, tamamen organik bir ürün olması nedeni ile insanoğlunun var olduğu günden itibaren duygu, düşünce, zevk ve yaratıcılığını ortaya koymak ve sanatsal ürünleri oluşturmak için kullandığı bir hammadde olmuştur. Dericiliğin ve deri sanatının ilerlemesinde ve yayılmasında Türklerin özel bir yeri olduğu bilinmektedir. Mukavemet özellikleri, hava ve su buharı geçirgenliği, uzama ve form tutma gibi üstün kullanım özelliklerinden dolayı vazgeçilmez doğal bir materyal olan deri geçmişten günümüze çeşitli ürünlerin yapımında kullanılmıştır. Deri kullanımının yaygınlaşması ve ürünlerdeki çeşitliliğin artması ile birlikte, deri ürünler modern yaşam biçiminin bir parçası haline gelmiştir. Bu ürünler arasında yer alan deri halılar bu çalışmanın konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Deri halılar bulunduğu ortama; doğallık, güzellik, özgün bir tarz, sağlık, benzersiz bir tasarım, sosyal bir statü, zariflik ve ayrıcalık katmaktadır. Onlar sadece zemini kaplayan, sıcak ya da soğuğu geçirmeyen bir kaplama malzemesi değil aynı zamanda kendisine dikkat çeken, göz zevkine hitap eden ve iç ısıtan bir sanat eseri olma özelliğini de bünyesinde barındırmaktadır. Bu çalışmada deri halıların üretim basamakları, temizlik ve bakımı ele alınmıştır. Yöntem anlayışımız ışığında amaca ulaşmak için halı üreticileri ile bire bir görüşme yapılmıştır. Deri halı üretim aşamaları yerinde incelenmiş ve fotoğraflar ile belgelenmiştir. Ayrıca literatür taraması yapılarak bu çalışmanın bilimsel bir tabana oturtulması sağlanmıştır.
The skin, which began to be used after the stone and the tree, has been a raw material that man has been used to expose his feelings, thoughts, pleasures and creativity and to create artistic products since the day of existence. It is known that Turks have a special place in the progress and spread of skin and skin art. The skin, which is an indispensable natural material due to its strength characteristics, air and water steam portability, extension and shape maintenance, has been used in the manufacturing of various products from the past to the present day. With the spread of skin use and the increased diversity of products, skin products have become part of modern lifestyle. The leather roofs that are included among these products are the subject of this work. The environment in which the leather roofs are added; nature, beauty, original style, health, unique design, social status, elegance and privileges. They are not only a coating material that covers the ground, which is not hot or cold, but also a characteristic of being an artwork that attracts attention to it, attracts eye pleasure and heats the inside. After wood and stone, leather is an entirely organic raw material which has been used since the dawn of humanity to express our thoughts, feelings, pleasure and creativity. The Turks have a special place in the development and spread of leather working and the leather industry. Leather is a durable material which is permeable to air and water vapour, and has outstanding qualities in use such as stretching and keeping its shape, making it an invaluable natural material for use in the production of numerous articles past and present. Along with an increase in the use of leather and the variety of leather products, leather has become a part of the modern lifestyle. One of these products, leather carpets, is the topic of this study. Leather carpets add naturalness, beauty, authentic style, health, unique design, social status, privilege and elegance to the environment. They are not only coating materials covering the floor and not transferring hot or cold, but they incorporate also features of an art work that draw attention, appeal to eye pleasure and warm the interior. The stages in production, cleaning and care of leather carpets were taken as the topic of the present study. For this purpose, carpet producers were interviewed on a one-to-one basis. The stages of leather carpet production were examined and were documented with photographs. In addition, a scan of the literature was performed in order to set the study in a scientific context.
