Terimbilimin uzmanlık alanları çevirisinde önemli bir rol oynadığı gerek çevirmenler gerekse terimbilimcilerin hem fikir oldukları bir konudur. Terimbilim çalışmaları 70 ve 80’li yıllarda çeviriyi esas alarak yürütülmekteydi. Ancak bilindiği gibi son otuz yılda bilişim ve dil alanındaki yeni yöntem ve metodlar; terimbilim alanında da yeni yönelimlere ve oluşumlara sebep olmuştur. Terimbilim özellikle dilbilimin çalışma alanı içerisinde yeni uygulamalara yönelmiştir. Terimbilim alanındaki bu yönelimler çeviri ile olan bağları bir süreliğine de olsa zayıflatmıştır. Doksanlı yılların sonlarına doğru terimbilimin bilişim alanına yönelmesiyle birlikte çeviri uygulamalarını da yeni oluşum ve yönelimlere sevk etmiştir. Son 20 yılda, çevirmenlere, çeviri çalışmalarında yararlanabilecekleri birçok bilgiişlem aracı sunulmuştur. Ancak bilgisayar çevirisi (traductique) veya bilgisayar destekli çeviri, çeviribilimin özerk bir alanı haline dönüşmelidir. Bu nedenle “ Dili İşleme (Dİ)” (Traitement Automatique du Langage (TAL)) ve “bilgisayarla dil işleme” kapsamındaki çalışmalara dilbimden çok çeviribilim yöntem ve yaklaşımlarının da dahil edilmesinin hem alandaki hem de uygulamalı çeviribilim alanındaki sorunsallıklara katkı sağlıyacağı kanısı ortaya çıkmaktadır. Dilbilimin ve çeviribilimin bilgi-işlemsel uygulama alanlarında son yıllarda gerçekleşen bilimsel süreçlere rağmen, barındırdığı sorunsalı aşamamıştır. Terminoloji ve leksikografi konusundaki çevirmen ihtiyaçları, uygulama koşullarına az ya da çok uyarlanmış olan çözüm yolları üretme gerekliliğini doğurmuştur; zira unutulmamalıdır ki adı geçen bu iki alan çeviribilimin destekleyicisi olarak görülmemektedir. Öncelikle terimbilim ve çeviri alanları arasındaki ilişkinin zayıflamasının nedenlerini göstermek ve daha sonrasında ise her iki alanın yeni oluşumlarını ve yönelimlerini ortaya konması amaçlanmıştır.
The termology plays an important role in the translation of specialty fields, and if translators need, the term scientists are both an idea. The termology studies were conducted on the basis of translation in the 70s and 80s. But, as it is known, in the last thirty years, new methods and methods in the field of information and language have also led to new directions and formations in the field of terminology. The termology has focused on new practices, especially in the field of linguistics. These directions in the termology field have weakened the links with translation for a while. At the end of the years, Doksanlı has directed the terminology into the field of information and has also translated its translation practices into new formations and directions. Over the past 20 years, many information processing tools have been offered to translators that can be used in their translation work. But computer translation (traductique) or computer-backed translation must become an autonomous field of translation. Therefore, there is the belief that the inclusion of the methods and approaches of multilingualism and multilingualism in the studies under "Traitement Automatique du Langage" (TAL) and "Computer Language Processing" will contribute to problems in both the field and the field of practical translation. Despite the scientific processes that have occurred in recent years in the fields of information-processing application of linguistics and translation, it has not been a problematic stage. The needs of the translator in the field of terminology and lexicography have led to the need to produce solutions that are less or much adapted to the conditions of application; it should not be forgotten that these two fields are not considered to support the translationability. It is intended to first show the causes of the weakening of the relationship between the terminology and translation fields and later to reveal the new formations and directions of both fields.
Both translators and terminologists agree on that terminology has an important role in specialized translation. In 70’s and 80’s terminology studies based on translation were carried on. However, in the last thirty years new methods in information technology and language led to new orientations and approaches in terminology. Terminology tends to have new applications within the domain of linguistics. These orientations in terminology weakened the connections with translation for a while. In the last years of 90’s terminology led to information technology, thus translation applications gained new orientations. For the last twenty years several data processing tools have been presented to translators. However, mechanical translation, or computer assisted translation have to be autonomous fields of translation studies. For this reason, the methods and approaches of translation studies should be included in the studies in the extent of “language processing”, and “computer assisted language processing” rather than using that of linguistics. This will make contributions to the problematiques of translation studies, and applied field of translation studies. In spite of the scientific developments in application fields on data processing of linguistics and translation studies, there are still some problematiques. The needs for translators as to terminology and lexicography cause a necessity of solutions adopted to application conditions. These two fields are not considered as supportive of translation studies. This article aims to show the reasons why the relationship between terminology and translation weakened, and suggest the new approaches and orientations of these two field.
