Birleştirilmiş Sınıflarda Görev Yapan Öğretmenlerin “Öğretmen” Kavramı İle İlgili Algılarının Metaforik İncelenmesi

Bu araştırmada, birleştirilmiş sınıflarda görev yapan sınıf öğretmenlerinin öğretmen kavramına ilişkin algılarını metafor yoluyla ortaya çıkarma amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma, sosyal olguları bağlı bulundukları çevre içerisinde araştırmayı ve anlamayı ön plana alan nitel araştırma yaklaşımı çerçevesinde tasarlanmış olup durum çalışması deseni kullanılarak yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2012–2013 eğitim-öğretim yılında Elazığ ilinde birleştirilmiş sınıfta görev yapan 47 sınıf öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Kolay ulaşılabilir durum örneklemesi yöntemiyle örneklem seçimine gidilmiştir. Araştırmada, öğretmenlerin öğretmen kavramına ilişkin metaforlarının neler olduğu ve bu metaforların ortak özellikleri bakımından hangi kavramsal kategoriler altında toplanabilineceği sorularına cevap aranmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan birleştirilmiş sınıflı okullarda görev yapan öğretmenlerin, öğretmen kavramına ilişkin sahip oldukları metaforları ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla her birinden Öğretmen ..... benzer, çünkü ....... cümlesini tamamlamaları istenilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde nitel veri analizlerinden olan içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre, birleştirilmiş sınıflarda görev yapan öğretmenler 29 adet geçerli metafor üretmiştir. İlk üç sırada yer alan metaforlar sırasıyla şöyledir: 1. Bahçıvan (%13,63); 2. Ebeveyn (%13,63); 3. Güneş (%9, 18). Öğretmenler, metaforların 18 tanesini canlı varlıklara 11 tanesini cansız varlıklara benzetmiştir. Öğretmenler tarafından üretilen metaforlar ortak özellikleri bakımından 5 farklı kavramsal kategori altında toplanmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlara göre birleştirilmiş sınıf öğretmenleri öğretmen kavramını bilgi sağlayıcı, şekillendirici-biçimlendirici, bireysel gelişimin destekleyicisi, yönlendirici ve yol gösterici, sabır örneği olarak görmektedirler.

In this research, the aim was to reveal perceptions of classroom teachers working in multigrade classroom about teacher concept by the means of metaphor. In this research, qualitative research pattern of the phenomenological research pattern has been used to determine perceptions of teachers working in multigrade classroom about the concept of being a teacher. The study group of the research consists of 47 teachers who work in multigrade classrooms in the province of Elazıg in the 2012-2013 academic year. The sample selection was undertaken using the convenience sampling method. In the research, there was an effort to answer followings: what metaphors do teachers have about teacher concept and in which conceptual categories could these metaphors be classified according to their common points. Data of the study has gathered from teacher’s completion of Teacher is like …. because …. sentence. Content analysis, one of the qualitative analysis, have been used in the analysis of the data. The teachers working in multigrade classrooms produced 29 metaphors about concept of being a teacher. The first three metaphors were: 1. Gardener (13.63%), 2. Parental (13.63%); 3. Sun (9.18%). Teachers likened 18 of the metaphors to living beings while they likened 11 to non-living things. Metaphors, created by the teachers, were classified into 5 different conceptual categories, highlighting common points.
