Abstract:

At the end of th 19th century Ottoman Empire had recognised the supremacy of West and quicken westernization movements. Westernization had started with military basis and then spread out whole social life. National Literature Period which the Westernization make itself feel intensively in every part of society is a fertile period in terms of Literature. By the effect of this western change in the social life ; a lot of problems and issues had appeared which needed to work on them. That is why this effective alteration had been main subject to most of the literary works written at that time period. Literary Works which not remaint indefferent for the social changes in the large part of the society often enacted the westernization as a matter. We see the Peyami Safa giving Works about west and westernization especially in novel type. The facts of social life in western basis is studied meticulously by Peyami Safa and he pointed on effects of westernization on women and family. Peyami Safa who worked about general charecter and westernization adventure of women uses women carefully and gives important duties for women in his novels. In his works he has very important findings about fundamentals of family life and effects of westernization that is why his literary works had acknowledged as very important documents explaining the time period of change. In this study we try to determine how the women and family structer was changed with the westernization in the Yalnızız novel of Peyami Safa.In this writing we have seen effects of westernization on women and family platform with examples.
