Türk kültürünü, yaşayışını, gelenek ve göreneklerini destandan hikâyeye geçiş döneminin özellikleri doğrultusunda veren Dede Korkut Kitabı Türk kültür tarihi açısından edebiyatımızın en önemli eserlerinden biri olarak kabul edilir. Eserin tarihiliği ve derinliğinden dolayı eserdeki kadın ve erkek kahramanlar da bu yapının oluşturmuş olduğu tipler şeklinde karşımıza çıkar.
