Bu çalışmanın amacı mekân ile düşünce arasındaki ilişkinin ve etkileşimin Antik Çin kentleri üzerinden aktarılmasıdır. Bu amaçla, çalışmada önce kentlerin kökenine dair kuramlar özetlenecek ardından tarihsel süreç içinde Çin antik kentinin oluşumu ve gelişiminin dayandığı dini ve düşünsel arka planın Antik Çin’in kentlerine hem fiziksel ortam olarak hem de sosyal alanlardaki kent yaşamı olarak nasıl yansıdığına değinilecektir. Makale iki yönlü bir çalışmayı birleştirmesi açısından multidisipliner bir araştırma niteliği taşımaktadır. Bir yandan Çin felsefesini oluşturan akımların dayandığı kurucu metinlerden kente ve yönetimine dair pasajlarla birlikte, ortak yaşama alanlarının oluşumu ve gelişimine dair alıntılar sunulurken diğer yandan bu pasajların ve alıntıların fiziki mekâna yansımaları olarak kent formunun nasıl oluştuğuna çeşitli haritaların yardımıyla birlikte değinilecektir. Başka bir ifadeyle, çalışma bir yandan antropoloji ve felsefe tarihi ile öte yandan arkeoloji ve kent tarihi ile ilgilidir. Makalede, toplumların yaşadığı anlamlar dünyasının maddesel olarak dışavurumunu sembolize eden kent mekânının biçimlenmesi, kent formu ile toplumsal ilişkiler sistemi arasında kopmaz bir bağ olduğunun vurgulanması, bu açıdan kent formunu bağımlı değişken, onu hazırlayan ilişkilerin ise bağımsız değişken olarak sorgulanması ve ikisi arasındaki ilişkinin niteliğinin ortaya konulması, Antik Çin kentleri ve bu kentleri üreten toplumun değerler sistemi arasındaki ilişki ve etkileşiminin incelenmesi şeklinde ortaya konulmaktadır. Bunun için Çin felsefesinin kurucu metinleri ve Antik Çin kentleri belli bir bütünsellik içinde birlikte okunmaya tabi tutulmaktadır.
The aim of this study is to transmit the relationship and interaction between space and thought through the ancient Chinese cities. For this purpose, the study will first summarize the theories about the origins of cities and then point out how the religious and intellectual background on which the formation and development of the ancient Chinese city is based in the historical process reflects the cities of ancient China both as a physical environment and as a urban life in the social spheres. The article has a multidisciplinary research character in terms of combining a two-way study. On the one hand, from the founding texts on which the currents that form the Chinese philosophy are based, along with passages on the city and governance, citations on the formation and development of the common habitat areas are presented, while on the other hand, these passages and citations will be referred to as physical spatial reflections, along with the help of various maps on how the city form is formed. In other words, the study, on the one hand, relates to anthropology and philosophy history and on the other hand, archaeology and city history. The article emphasizes the formation of the city space that materially symbolizes the exteriority of the world of the meanings in which societies live, the emphasis on the existence of a inseparable connection between the city form and the social relations system, in this regard the city form is dependent on variable, and the relations that prepares it are questioned as independent variable and the nature of the relationship between the two is revealed in the form of the study of the relationship and interaction between the value system of the ancient Chinese cities and the society that produces these cities. For this purpose, the founding texts of Chinese philosophy and ancient Chinese cities are subject to read together in a certain integrity.
