Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’nde 2000’li yılların başlarında yaşanan Enron ve WorldCom gibi muhasebe skandalları; muhasebede hile, etik, denetim, vb. gibi pek çok kavramı gündeme getirmiş, Sarbanes Oxley ve Muhasebe Standartları gibi pek çok yasa ve düzenlemeye neden olmuştur. Bahsi geçen skandallardan sonra dünya genelinde etik ve adli muhasebe alanlarında pek çok çalışma yapılmıştır. Ayrıca bu tür skandallar sonucu etik, denetim ve hile olgularına muhasebe eğitiminde daha çok yer verilmesi gerektiği sonucuna varılmış ve bu alanlarda pek çok üniversitenin ilgili bölümlerinde müfredata yeni dersler eklenmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, lisans derslerinde genel muhasebe dersi alan öğrencilerin muhasebede etik ve hile denetimi konularında bilgilendirilmesi aşamasında vaka analizi üzerinden işlenen dersler ile vaka analizi kullanılmadan işlenenen dersler arasında konunun anlaşılması bakımından bir fark olup olmadığının incelenmesidir. Bu amaçla Ordu Üniversitesi Ünye İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi’nde bir uygulama yapılmıştır. Uygulama sonrası yapılan anketler SPSS programında analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda örnek vakalar kullanılarak ders anlatılan öğrencilerin özellikle muhasebe hilelerinin ekonomik etkileri ile ilgili ifadelere ilişkin yanıtlarında pozitif yönlü bir fark olduğu görülmüştür.
Accounting scandals such as Enron and WorldCom in the early 2000s in the United States; accounting fraud, ethics, audit, etc. It has brought many concepts to the agenda, and has led to many laws and regulations, such as Sarbanes Oxley and Accounting Standards. After these scandals, numerous studies have been carried out in the fields of ethics and judicial accounting worldwide. As a result of such scandals, the conclusion was that ethics, control and fraud should be given more place in accounting education, and new courses were added to the curriculum in the relevant departments of many universities in these fields. The aim of this study is to study whether there is a difference in understanding of the subject between the courses processed through case analysis and the courses processed without the use of case analysis at the stage of informing students who receive the general accounting lessons in the accounting and fraud control issues. For this purpose, an application was made at the University of Army's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The survey was analyzed in the SPSS program. The study found that the students who were taught in the course using examples of cases had a positive difference in their answers to the statements related to the economic effects of accounting tricks.
