The root changes that began in the mid-19th century and in the early 20th century, spread to the continental Europe in all areas, also showed themselves in the field of art and thought. There has never been such a consistent and strong transformation in both formal and mental terms throughout the art history. In this period in which art, aesthetics, sociology, philosophy, and even life were deeply questioned, the anarchist art attitude that began with futurism gained formality with Dada. In the Dadaci artists who rejected all the artistic attitudes of the past, and instead suggested an anti-esthetic, anti-artistic structure, German artist Kurt Schwitters (1887-1948), is placed in a separate place with his installations and performances. When he calls all his work Merz, he makes questions about meaning and meaninglessness through these things. Three-dimensional installations that cover and shut the whole space and turn it into a place are works that, beyond being a planned installation, are born with the artist and living with him with a more clear speech, become the practice of the artist’s life.
