Ebussuud Efendi, Osmanlı’nın zirve yüzyılının büyük ve etkili şeyhülislâmlarından olup otuz yıllık meşihatında verdiği binlerce fetva ile birçok müşkülâtı çözmüş, önemli sonuçlara yol açan görüşler serdetmiştir. Divançe oluşturacak kadar şiir yazmış olan Ebussuud Efendi’nin fetvâları arasında hamr, arak, kahve, tütün, esrar, afyon, berş, boza gibi içkilerden oluşan mükeyyifat da önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Bu tip fetvâlar genellikle kerahiyet, eşribe, had bölümlerinde yer almaktadır. Bu fetvâların arasında manzum olarak verilmiş olanların da bulunduğu ve bunların başka şeyhülislâm veya müftülerin fetvâları ile karışıp iç içe bulunduğu görülebilmektedir. Bu fetvâların bir kısmı edebî yönden de değerli bilgiler ihtiva etmekte, bazı kişi veya olayların bilinmeyen yönlerini ortaya koymaktadır.
Ebussuud Efendi, from the great and effective shishulisms of the Ottoman summit century and with thousands of fetva that he has given in his thirty-year mission, has solved many misconceptions, has raised opinions that lead to significant consequences. Among the fetvaes of Ebussuud Efendi, who has written poems enough to form Divance, the mixture of drinks such as hamr, arak, coffee, tobacco, esrar, afyon, berş, boza also holds an important place.
