Abstract:

Bayburt is located in the inner part of the Eastern Black Sea Division and in the upper pool of the Choruh River. In Bayburt, it is found in almost all prehistoric ages. In the Upper Choir Pool, Paleolithic and Epipaleolithic Age research has almost never been done. Buddha has caused a great lack for the region and, in addition, the unconscious and incorrect assessment of the region’s history and archaeology. The fact that the pool is extremely suitable for human settlements and especially the end of the Calcolic Age and the beginning of the Tune Age has seen intense settlements increases the possibility of settlements from the Paleolithic Age. In the upper part of the pool, from the arms of the Choruh River in the Gez Deresi valley, the place of accommodation belonging to the Alt and Middle Paleolithic Age and some instruments are found, again in this area, 5 km from Bayburt province. The discovery of microlites and processed stones from the Epipaleolithic Age in a cave in the northeastern part confirms, unlike the known, that the region has been seen as a cave from the oldest times.
