Abstract:

Volunteer work is that individuals work for themselves to be beneficial to other individuals and to be a beneficial person to society without expecting any material reward. The purpose of this study is to show what being a volunteer makes the individual feel. In this study, which deals with the quality data collection technique, a structured conversation technique has been used. The research has used a structured conversation form developed by researchers as a data collection tool. The study included a total of 20 people, including 15 women (75%) and 5 men (25%) who supported the Izot İzmir Autism Orchestra and the Korosu as volunteers. The age of volunteers varies from 19 to 29 and the average age is 22. According to the findings obtained, being a volunteer is gathered under the 5 different topics they feel to the individual. Volunteering is seen as a positive experience in terms of social interaction and responsibility, increasing self-esteem, awareness and career development. The results of the research are important in terms of the meanings that voluntary work gains in the individual’s life.
