Abstract:

Depending on the rate of growth in the world population, the consumption rate in the textile and ready-made clothing sector is significantly increased. The improvement of the environmental effects caused by this increase is of great importance. In recent years, the concept of sustainability has been a matter to be taken into account. This concept was defined by the World Commission on Environment and Development (World Commission on Environment and Development) as “the satisfaction of today’s needs, without creating disadvantages with the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” The main objective of sustainability is to provide the maximum benefit from the products by extending their lifetime. In the textile industry, waste is facing us as a major problem. Textile waste is waste derived from too many processes related to the fiber, textile and ready-made clothing manufacturing industry, consumers, commercial and service industries. In the textile and ready clothing industry, which is one of the world’s polluting industries, it is important to solve the increasing waste problem, the use of sustainable materials and production methods. In this study, clothing designs will be made and visually presented as wearable art by using the main material of clothing fabric produced by the recycling method. With the form and design aspect of the designs, it will be addressed and evaluated in terms of usefulness and functionality. Textile recovery and sustainability will be discussed. In recycling, the attention to the design and the contribution to sustainability will be examined.
