Abstract:

The number of prisoners has increased in recent years. The increase in prison entrance rates also causes the number of parents and children entering prison to increase. It is well known that the genetic characteristics that the child brings from birth, as well as environmental factors, are important. The children in prison with their parents are also an issue addressed in the context of negative environmental conditions. Studies on their parents’ children in prison show that there are many direct and indirect connections with their parents in prison, including a decrease in their children’s psychosocial well-being, experiencing academic failures, increasing their anti-social and criminal behavior. In this study, the developmental, behavioral and social difficulties of children in prison by their parents were addressed and studied in the context of the Ecosystem Approach, which Bronfenbrenner suggested.
