Ortadoğu’da “Arap Baharı” denilen süreç, bu coğrafyada yer alan ülkeleri her yönden olumsuz bir şekilde etkilemiştir. Özellikle 2011 yılı başlarında Suriye’de rejim güçleri ile muhalifler arasında meydana gelen çatışmalar nedeniyle milyonlarca insan doğup büyüdüğü toprakları terk etmiş ve bunun sonucunda öncelikle komşu ülkelere ve sonrasında Avrupa ülkelerine göç süreci başlamıştır. Başta Türkiye olmak üzere Suriye’ye komşu olan ülkeler bu süreçten ciddi şekilde etkilenmişlerdir. Resmi olmayan rakamlara göre dört milyondan fazla Suriye vatandaşının göç ettiği Türkiye’de güvenlik, ekonomi ve sağlık sorunları başta olmak üzere, birçok konuda problemler ortaya çıkmıştır. Çalışmamızda, beş yüz bin kişi olduğu tahmin edilen Suriyeli sığınmacıların yaşadığı Hatay ilinde Türkiye’nin sığınmacılara uyguladığı politikalar anket yöntemiyle değerlendirilmiştir.
