Abstract:

Children have a different world of thought than adults. They can look at the events, the people, the circumstances from other directions. Therefore, the works written for children must be addressed to this particular world, that is, according to the child. A child’s comparability can be defined as the processing of the subjects that observe the children’s interests and needs, taking into account their characteristics that vary according to their age periods, being in formal qualities, hosting the language and narrative style that children can easily understand, and thus carrying the characteristics of contributing to them in the sensational and thought direction. Hasan Lâtif Sarıyüce, with more than a hundred works in various kinds, has given great services to children's literature. In this study, the author's work "The Story of the Tarla Birds" is aimed at evaluating the child from a visual point of view. This story is important in terms of receiving the first prize in the Children's Literature Awards competition, which was organized by Arkin Library for 9-14 years in 1972. The method of examination of the document is used in the research model. In this context, the work has been studied in two main titles: the scan of the literature and the evaluation form created as a result of the expert opinions received and the characteristics of the internal structure (content) and the external structure (design). In terms of content characteristics, the subject, the theme, the characters, the language and the narrative; in terms of the design characteristics, the dimensions, the paper, the cover, the page layout, the letters and the images are addressed.
