Abstract:

Namus is one of the facts that some societies attribute great value. Namus is an important concept of vital value that arises from the traditions and habits of sexual behavior and requires sexual abuse as a rule. The Namus phenomenon can be perceived and interpreted in different ways, depending on the time and society found in it. In the countries in which Muslim-powered individuals live, the patriarchal structure is adopted and generally identified with namus, female body and its sexual purity. In this context, the woman is expected to possess her solitude under the name namus, while the man is asked to take care of it. In addition, women are forced to a life in which their freedoms are limited first under family pressure and then under social pressure, and this situation is integrated with the namus concept. Therefore, according to men, the women who remain in the second place are forced to marry those they do not want, and in case of opposition, their lives are terminated under the name of "namus murder". Despite the unpredictable increase in these murders today, the scientific articles on the subject are not sufficient. Therefore, in this collection, which is thought to keep the light of literature, the concepts associated with namus and namus murders have been discussed.
