Abstract:

This study aims to study the relationship between school maturity (school maturity, mathematical skills) and academic achievements of first-class students and to develop studies in accordance with their levels. The study is a correlation pattern study in which the strength and direction of the relationship are determined (Johnson, Christensen, 2014) and was conducted with 35 first-class students. In the collection of data, the 'Metropolitan School Adult Test' adapted to Turkish by Oktay (1980) and the 'Test of Early Mathematical Skills (TEMA-3) adapted to Turkish by Erdoğan (2006) and the students' first semester Turkish and math lessons were used. The research results found that there is a high-level relationship between the academic achievements of students in the Turkish and Mathematical Classes with the Metropolitan School Adult Test, the Early Mathematical Skills Test and the high-level academic achievements of students in the Mathematical Classes, and the Metropolitan School Adult Test with the Early Mathematical Skills Test. According to the results of the Metropolitan School Adult Test, a significant portion of students have a level below the middle and the middle. Early Mathematical Skills Test results show that more than half of the students are at a lower level than they are in mathematical skills.
