Hocazâdeler Osmanlı’da büyük ulemâ ai¬lelerinin doğuşuna zemin hazırlamış büyük bir ulema ailesi olup, iki padişaha hocalık yapmış Hoca Sadeddin Efendi’ye dayanmaktadır. Onun soyundan ilmiye sınıfında şeyhülislâmlık, kazaskerlik, kadılık vs. görevlerde bulunmuş birçok sima çıkmış olup, bunların en bariz vasfı şair oluşları ve bunu fetvâ vermede de göstermiş olmalarıdır. Osmanlı’da manzum biçimde verilmiş fetvâların çoğu bu ailenin fertlerince verilmiş olup, eldeki mevcut 22 manzum fetvânın 12’si bu ailenin fertlerine aittir. Osmanlı’da manzum fetvâlar 16.yüzyılın ikinci yarısında görülmeye başlanmış ve daha sonraki yüzyıllarda giderek azalmıştır. Yani devletin ve padişahın zirvede olduğu bir dönemde, manzum fetvâlar da bu ortamda yerini almıştır. Fetvâ kelimesi Arapça fetâ kökünden türeyen bir kelime olup, müşkil bir meselenin güçlü bir cevapla çözülmesini ifade etmektedir. Osmanlı’da manzum fetvâ veren şeyhülislâmların en başta geleni hâce-i şehriyârî unvanına da sahip Hoca Sadeddin Efendi olup, kendisinden sonra da oğulları ve torunları bu geleneği sürdürmüşlerdir. Onun torunlarından Ebû Sa’îd Mehmed Efendi bu yolu izleyen torun şeyhülislâmlardan olup tıpkı dedesi gibi edebî yönden de güçlü birkaç manzum fetvâ vermiştir. Bu makalede onun tespit edilen iki manzum fetvâsı tanıtılmaktadır.
