Doğu Roma İmparatorluğu’nun siyasî ve askerî başarısızlıklar yaşamaya başladığı VI. yüzyıldan itibaren, Anadolu yarımadası birbiri ardınca Sasaniler ve Müslüman Araplar gibi komşu güçlerin hedefi haline gelmiştir. Hadiseler sosyo-ekonomik durumu derinden etkilemiş ve bunun sonucunda yarımada yerleşmeleri ile sakinleri bir hayli kayba uğramışlardır. Doğu Roma’nın X. yüzyılda toparlanıp karşı atağa geçmesine değin süren bu durum, Selçuklu Türkleri’nin yarımada içlerine hızlı ilerleyişi ve bunu takiben başlayan Haçlı seferleri ile yeni bir boyut kazanmıştır. Anadolu’ya yönelik sefer güzergâhlarının incelenmesi, söz konusu meselelerin aydınlatılması yanısıra, yarımada yerleşmeleri ve sosyo-ekonomik durumun izahında hayli faydalıdır.
The Eastern Roman Empire began to experience political and military failures. Since the century, the Anatolian Peninsula has become the target of neighboring forces, such as the Sasanists and Muslim Arabs. The events have profoundly affected the socio-economic situation, and as a result, the settlements and residents have lost a lot. This situation, which lasted until the 10th century the Eastern Rome recovered and passed to the opposite attack, has gained a new dimension with the rapid progress of the Selchuk Turks in the middle and their crucified flights that began after that. The study of the flight routes to Anadolu, as well as the lighting of the issues in question, is very useful in settlement in the peninsula and in the explanation of the socio-economic situation.
