Abstract:

In this study, the Turkish Turkish language examined the words that passed through the word of mind (not to fit the mind, not to pass the mind, not to take the mind, not to stop the mind, not to cut the mind), and tried to figure out how the concept of mind was visualized and how it was metaphorized as a result. The study’s database contains a total of 102 words. Most of them (93 entries) were determined by the scan of the Current Turkish Dictionary, which is available online on the Turkish Language Authority’s website (data of entry: 30.07.2018). The theoretical basis of the study is Zaltman-Zaltman (2017). Accordingly, in the study, by the method of personal observation, first submetaphoric suggestions obtained by each phrase were drawn out, then these submetaphoric suggestions were placed in certain top frameworks (surface metaphors, metaphoric themes, and deep metaphors).
