Abstract:

The years of legitimacy cover the period in the Turkish history, from social life to political life, from the world of art to the world of thought, where radical changes occur and the transformation that has been ongoing for a long time has made a new and final move. The basic ideology of this period is nationalism or, in a narrow sense, Turkish. This stream, which will also shape the establishment of the Republic of Turkey in the coming years, is defended with a feeling of delay when the revolution is revealed. As a result, Westernization continues to exist as a general shadow, but it is stated that the idea of Ottomanism fails, and the idea of Islamic Self-Determination cannot be a solution to the collapse of the state. The main part of the period is nationality/Turkish. Among the most important nationalists/Turkish lights of the time is Omer Seyfettin. In addition to the contribution it offers to the formation of the movement on the theoretical level with the writings it receives, the influence of Omer Seyfettin in the establishment of Turkish language and therefore the birth of a new art movement is great. The purpose of this study is to look for and interpret the traces of the thought movements in the text called Ashab-i Kehfimiz, which appears to be a novel by Omer Seyfettin but rather shows the characteristics of the long story. Omer Seyfettin was chosen because the revolution was a name blurred among both ideologists and artists. Ashab-i Kehfimiz, a story not previously detailed, has been chosen for the author’s material to defend Turkish, to announce the bankruptcy of Ottomanism and the idea of Islam is just a dream. In this regard, the text is expected to contribute through the analysis to the interpretation of the judge movement both of Omer Seyfettin and his representation; to the study of the ties between literature, politics and social life.
