Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the views of Turkish teachers; the attitudes of Syrian guest students towards Turkish courses, basic language skills, teaching materials, planning, measurement and evaluation topics. The research was conducted with 13 Turkish teachers in the framework of the quality research approach. The teacher’s selection method is used. In the 2018-2019 Education Teaching Year, the Turkish teachers who served in the central districts of Gaziantep (Shahinbey, Şehitkâmil) and in the framework of temporary protection in their classes were taken examples of Syrian students. The meeting was conducted in a semi-configured way. The video and voice interview was recorded in writing and qualitative content analysis was made. In the content analysis, the code system was applied for both the working group members and questions. The research has achieved the following findings: most Turkish teachers who participated in the study have stated that their attitudes towards Turkish learning are negative, that they do not communicate with Turkish students, that their writing and reading skills are the least advanced language skills, that Turkish curriculum books are above the level of these students, that they do not do different planning and measurement evaluation studies for these students, and that they see the "language" problem as the most important problem in the integration into the Turkish educational system.
